TELL ME ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF ELDERBERRIES

Original use for the elderberry dates back to ancient times, with uses against colds, as a laxative, and as a diuretic.

Studies have also shown that berry anthocyanins are beneficial in reducing age-
associated oxidative stress, as well as in improving neuronal and cognitive brain function. (1)

Elderberry juice has also been used to treat sciatica, headache, dental pain, heart pain, & nerve pain. (2)

ARE THE BERRIES ACTUALLY TOXIC? 

The uncooked berries, leaves, bark and roots of the elderberry plant contain the chemicals lectin and cyanide, which can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea (2). Cooking the berries and seeds will remove the cyanide. All of our products contain cooked elderberries.
 

WHAT DOES THE ELIXER TASTE LIKE?

Currently, we have 2 flavors to offer:

“Winter Spice” is like walking into a Cracker Barrel. There is enough cinnamon to remind you of sweaters and fireplaces, but not too much to overwhelm you. 

“The Sweet Stuff” is Winter Spice but with a whole lot more sweets! This tends to be more favored by the kids 🙂 

WHAT IS THE NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ELDERBERRIES?

100 grams of fresh elderberries berries yields 73 calories, 18.4 grams of carbs and less than 1 gram each of fat and protein (3).

CAN MY FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS REALLY BE RELIEVED FASTER WITH THIS ELDERBERRY ELIXIR?

Each persons body will react differently to the Elderberry Elixir. There is no guarantee that it will be the cure to your aches and pains. However, in a study completed in Norway, patients who took the Elderberry Syrup noted relief of symptoms 4 days earlier than those who took the placebo syrup (4).
 

WHAT IS THE SUGGESTED SERVING SIZE?

For adults, it’s suggested to take 15ml (1 Tablespoon) a day, or 5ml (1 teaspoon) for children, for preventative health. If symptoms become more apparent, increase intake by 2 or 3. For toddlers and babies, please consult with your health care provider.
 

DOES MY ELDERBERRY ELIXIR NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED?

Our Elderberry Elixer contains no preservatives, so yes, it is important to keep your syrup in the refrigerator.

The Elixir contains a large amount of raw unfiltered honey, however,  it’s a misconception that honey acts as a preservative. Honey, which is considered a preservative in its natural state, ferments once it’s diluted. So, by adding honey to our elixir we void the preservative nature, trading it for sweetness and immunity boosting benefits.
